Tiramisú con helado de espaguetis

Wow, a Tiramisu with Spaghetti Ice Cream! That’s a truly innovative and surprising combination, bringing together the classic and beloved Italian dessert with a fun and nostalgic touch from a very popular German dessert (Spaghettieis). What a fantastic idea for a unique and memorable sweet treat here in Ternopil!

The challenge is to harmoniously combine the textures and flavors: the creaminess of tiramisu, the coffee, the cocoa, and then the coldness and shape of the spaghetti ice cream with its strawberry sauce and white chocolate. It’s a true fusion of desserts!

I’ll propose a recipe that integrates these two worlds in a balanced way, maintaining the essence of both.

Tiramisu with Spaghetti Ice Cream: An Incredible Dessert Fusion! 🍓🍦☕🍮

This dessert is a delight for both the eyes and the palate, combining the richness of tiramisu with the fun of spaghetti ice cream.

Ingredients:

For the Tiramisu Base:

  • 250g mascarpone cheese, at room temperature
  • 2 large eggs (yolks and whites separated)
  • 75g granulated sugar (or powdered sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 150-200ml strong, cold espresso coffee (or brewed coffee)
  • 2 tablespoons Amaretto liqueur or dark rum (optional)
  • 1 package (about 200g) ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting

For the “Spaghetti Ice Cream”:

  • 500g vanilla ice cream (or fior di latte), very firm
  • Strawberry sauce (homemade or store-bought):
    • 200g fresh or frozen strawberries, cleaned and hulled
    • 1-2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste and strawberry sweetness)
    • 1-2 tablespoons water
  • White chocolate (about 50g), shaved or grated, for garnish

Utensils:

  • Glass dish or rectangular baking dish (approx. 20×20 cm or similar)
  • Electric mixer (handheld or stand mixer)
  • 2-3 medium bowls
  • Food processor or blender (for the strawberry sauce)
  • Potato ricer or “spaghetti press” for ice cream (if you have one)
  • Fine sieve (for cocoa powder)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Coffee and Strawberry Sauce

  1. Brew the espresso coffee and let it cool completely. Once cold, mix it with the liqueur (if using) and set aside.
  2. For the strawberry sauce: Place the strawberries (if frozen, slightly thawed), sugar, and water in a food processor or blender. Blend until you get a smooth purée. If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a little more water. Taste and adjust the sugar. Store in the refrigerator.
  3. Shave or grate the white chocolate and store it in the refrigerator to keep it firm.

Step 2: Prepare the Mascarpone Cream for the Tiramisu

  1. In a bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until the mixture is pale, thick, and creamy (ribbon stage). Add the vanilla extract and mix.
  2. Add the mascarpone to the egg yolk and vanilla mixture. Beat on low/medium speed just until combined and you get a smooth cream. Do not overbeat, to prevent the mascarpone from curdling.
  3. In another clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form (but not dry) with the electric mixer.
  4. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the mascarpone mixture with a spatula, using sweeping motions to maintain the lightness of the cream. Refrigerate.

Step 3: Assemble the Tiramisu Base

  1. Quickly dip the ladyfingers in the coffee (with liqueur, if using). Dip for only one second on each side so they don’t get too soggy.
  2. Arrange a layer of ladyfingers on the bottom of your serving dish. If necessary, cut them to fit snugly.
  3. Cover the ladyfingers with half of the mascarpone cream. Spread evenly.
  4. Repeat the layer: more coffee-dipped ladyfingers, then the remaining mascarpone cream. Smooth the surface.
  5. Refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 2-4 hours (ideally overnight) to allow the cream to set and the flavors to meld.

Step 4: Add the “Spaghetti Ice Cream” and Finish (Just Before Serving!)

  1. When ready to serve, remove the tiramisu from the refrigerator.
  2. Take the vanilla ice cream out of the freezer. If you have a potato ricer or an ice cream spaghetti press, use it to press the ice cream directly onto the surface of the tiramisu, creating the “spaghetti” strands. If you don’t have one, you can use an ice cream scoop to place small balls.
  3. Generously drizzle the strawberry sauce over the spaghetti ice cream.
  4. Liberally sprinkle with the white chocolate shavings, mimicking grated Parmesan cheese.
  5. Finally, dust with cocoa powder for the finishing touch of the tiramisu.

Tips for a Perfect Fusion:

  • Ingredient Quality: Use good quality ingredients, especially the mascarpone and ice cream, as they are the stars of this dish.
  • Firm Ice Cream: Ensure the ice cream is very firm when you take it out of the freezer to get perfect “spaghetti” strands. Work quickly.
  • Temperature Contrast: The contrast between the cool tiramisu and the cold ice cream is part of the magic of this dessert.
  • Decoration: The presentation is key for this dish. Have fun creating your “Spaghettieis” on top of the tiramisu!
